The flat is traditionally
furnished throughout and has electric storage heaters and a real
fire (coal & logs), fire alarm cover,
and a pay-phone. It sits above
our craftshop and gallery. It shares the front door but is securely
partitioned off from the ground floor with its own locked door. There is
also a private door to the secluded rear garden.
Across the road on the
shore is a second private garden for the flat residents. Ample parking
space is available at the front of the house and to the side. The
flat itself consists of:
Large traditional
Living Room (4.1m x 5.4m - 13’4" x 17’6"): on
the first floor with windows to the front and rear overlooking the loch
and rear garden. It is spacious, comfortably furnished and has a Victorian
tiled open fireplace, colour T.V. and video recorder, and radio/cassette/cd
player.
Roomy Kitchen/Breakfast Room (5m
x 3.1m -16’3" x 10’): Fully equipped with electric cooker,
microwave, fridge, double sink and drainer, table, chairs and stools, full
range of crockery and utensils etc. with ample unit surface and storage
area. The west facing window overlooks the loch.
Dining Room
(2.1m x 3.8m
- 7’ x 10’6"): on the first floor directly off the
kitchen. Overlooking the rear garden, this room contains a large dining
table and chairs.
Bedrooms 1 & 2.(4.2m
x 4.4m - 14’ x 13’8"ea): One twin & one double room on the
second floor within the roofspace with wide bayed dormer windows enjoying
magnificent views out over the loch. Each room contains beds, wardrobe,
chests, mirrors etc.
Bathroom 1: on the
landing between bedrooms 1 & 2 again with a bayed dormer window and a
"bath with a view" (which has been very popular). Also
washbasin, w.c., bathroom cabinet, electric fan heater and extractor fan.
Bathroom 2:
between the kitchen and living room with shower, toilet
and washbasin.
Utility
Room: (2.3m x
1.7m - 7’8" x 5’8"): next to the back door between the ground and
first floor, containing an
automatic washing machine, tumble dryer, drying and storage space. Adjacent to the utility room is a separate toilet, use of which is reserved from 11.00am to 5.00pm for the person manning the shop.
Finding Us on
Skye: Head west on the A87T from the
Skye Bridge (join the A87T at Broadford if using the Mallaig Ferry).
Follow signs for Portree, Uig and Dunvegan.
At Sligachan turn left on to the A863 following
signs for Dunvegan. One mile before Dunvegan, turn right onto the single
track - A864 signposted Portree. Two miles later turn right onto the main
A850 signposted Portree.
Fairy Bridge is the next junction, - turn left onto
the B886 for Waternish. After four miles you will gasp at the view and see
Stein on the shore below and to the left. Follow the road, turn left at
the T-junction, descend the hill and prepare for a cup of tea - you have
arrived!
Alternatively, from Broadford follow A87T signs to
Portree and turn left onto the A850 for Dunvegan (passing the Co-op
supermarket). Fairy Bridge is four miles past Edinbane. Turn off right for
Waternish onto the B886.
